May 24: Pre-event mingle. Just like last year, there will be a mingle event at Scandinavian Photo, starting with Stockholm by Camera, followed by our partners, talks, and some excitement ahead of the coming weekend.
August 16–17: Stockholm Fotomaraton.
September 20: Awards ceremony at the Stockholm City Museum (Stadsmuseet).
From September 20: Exhibition at the Stockholm City Museum (Stadsmuseet). All winners, theme winners, and participants will be on display. Please note: contact sheets cannot be picked up during the exhibition period. We’ll announce dates and location for contact sheet pickup later.
The start of Stockholm Fotomaraton
The 2025 edition of Stockholm Fotomaraton starts at Malmskillnadsgatan’s summer street (between Mäster Samuelsgatan and Hamngatan)!
The start time is 12:00 noon on Saturday, August 16. Make sure to collect your bib number before the start.
Bib number pickup opens at 10:00 on the day of the event. Since lines can form, we recommend arriving early to ensure you’re ready by 12:00. Many of our partners will also be at the start location, often running contests, giveaways, and other fun activities.
Checkpoints
Every four hours, you must check in at a checkpoint to receive your next theme card. Each card includes four new themes for the next four hours and the location of the next checkpoint. You must arrive during the checkpoint’s opening hours.
Opening hours and locations:
- Start – 12:00 – Malmskillnadsgatans summer street
- Checkpoint 2 – 15:00–17:00 – Location is a surprise, revealed at the start
- Checkpoint 3 / 8-hour finish – 19:00–21:00 – Stockholm City Museum
- Checkpoint 4 – 23:00–01:00 – Location is a surprise, revealed at checkpoint 3
- Checkpoint 5 – 03:00–05:00 – Generator Hostel. Discounted beds/rooms available – Read more here.
- Checkpoint 6 – 07:00–09:00 – Location is a surprise, revealed at checkpoint 5
- 24-hour finish – 11:00–13:00 – Stockholm City Museum
The finish line
The finish lines are located at the Stockholm City Museum.
At the finish, you’ll upload your images using our mobile upload tool. Make sure you know how to transfer photos from your camera to your phone/iPad/laptop in advance.
If you can’t upload your images yourself, we’ll help you at one of our upload stations. In that case, your memory card must only contain 8 or 24 JPEG photos, depending on your class – no more, no less.
Do not forget to transfer your tickets!
If you’ve bought tickets for someone else, make sure their contact info is on the ticket or transfer the ticket to them. That way, they’ll also get important event information.
Additional memory card
A good tip is to bring an additional memory card to take pictures from your participation that are not the competing pictures. There will be times when you want to take a picture of something not in the competition. If you compete in the mobile class, ensure you have room for your pictures.
